Where To Place The Microwave

The microwave is a necessity in any home and is especially helpful for those of you who live off of TV dinners. In the conventional home the microwave would be placed on top of one of the counters where it can be accessed by everyone in the kitchen. The only problem with this is that it is often in our way and takes up space that we could be using to prepare food.

Microwave Drawer

The microwave drawer is a much newer appliance that is ideal for many people. it Is designed to fit neatly underneath countertops, wall ovens, and stovetops. If you have an island in your kitchen you can save space and store it underneath there as well. It sits at waist level keeping you from having to bend over all the way to get to the food or from reaching over your head. The drawer pulls out and the food sits neatly inside of the microwave allowing easy access to what is inside.

Over Counter Microwave

The over the counter microwave is more common than the drawer microwave and is used in many modern and contemporary kitchens. Many of these sit in small cubbies that are design to fit medium to large microwaves. This cubby will be situated over countertops or stovetops. The only downside to this is that for some people it is difficult for them to pull out a large and hot dish and it cannot be accessed by children.

Microwave Design

You want your appliance to match the look of your kitchen. That is why people wait until the kitchen is finished before they purchase and install them into the kitchen. There are a limited amount of options for the type of microwave design that you are able to use. The most common choice is either all black, all white, or stainless steel. Most microwaves will cost you between $50 to $300 – but it is better to make your decision based on practicality and durability rather than the price tag.

Although all white might look great in certain kitchens it is one of the hardest to keep clean at all times. Every food stain and speck of dust will show up and require your attention each day to clean it off. If you want something that is low maintenance than choose the stainless steel. This material is highly durable looks great in any kitchen and will last you for many years.
