It is not uncommon for kitchen faucets to become clogged with calcium deposits. When this happens it makes it difficult for the faucet to work the way that it should and for the water to flow properly. In some cases the water might still flow the way it should – but inside the seal is becoming thin and will cause leaks in other parts. The best way to repair it is to replace it.
Turn the water to the spout off from the main valve located under the sink. The valve is three inches in diameter and usually has an oval shape to it. You can turn it off by moving it clockwise.
Pull the cap from the top of the handle off using a flathead screwdriver to show the faucet handle screw. Remove this screw with a Philips screwdriver.
Now take the handle off and put it to the side. Take off the retaining nut using adjustable pliers. Grab the retaining nut with the pliers and turn them counterclockwise. Lift the faucet straight up to disconnect it from the body.
Place the brand new faucet over the body and turn the spout to the side. You will need to reinstall the nut using the adjustable pliers. Remember that the nut will be placed in the center of the new faucet.
Put the handle back on top of the spout and install the handle screw into the top of it. Push the handle cap back on top. All you need to do is apply a bit of pressure to snap it back into place.
Turn the water back on by opening the main valve under the sink. Make sure that it is working properly and there are no leaks above or under the sink.
